A Happy Heart!

Sunday Picture

Sunday Picture

Sweet girls!
Funny face at lunch!

Maggie's milk bottle character with "curly" hair (she made this at school on her own)

Lil Sis day at summer camp.  Maggie is so excited about going next year for a few days!
Stunting at summer camp!

Gracie was such a big sis!

Rope wall climbing all the way to the top!

We loved having Abbie ride in with us each morning to camp.  We are so blessed to have wonderful neighbors and friends for the family!

Yep...gymnastics in the pool!

I am working to remind myself that as the girls grow while I would love to freeze time,  each stage is a blessing.  I love watching them grow, develop and have different opportunities.    They are both wrapping up summer with a bang!   Swim lessons are over and this weekend they went to Atlanta to spend the week with Grammy & Papa and Aunt Tammy and her gang.   They were beyond excited.
Cousin funny faces!
One of my favorite pics of these two!  So special to have wonderful Aunts!
Waiting for the puppet show to start at the Atlanta Puppet Theater.
A little iPad time while Papa wakes up!  We woke him up early!
Since Grammy called and said they wanted them a week before school started, Jimmy and I planned a late minute weekend get away to Atlanta.  Once the girls were settled with Papa, we headed to Gibbs Gardens.  They are spectacular.  We are excited to take the girls back and someday would love to have our family pictures taken there!   It is on my list of my top favorites dates we have ever had!    It was quite, beautiful, fun to walk (and even dodge a few rain drops) and just talk and be together.

The paths at the garden are stunning!

I love the reflection in the pond.
yep, they encourage you to walk OFF the path and in the grass!

My man!   I love you!
We took advantage of the SunTrust corporate rate and stayed at the Ritz, enjoyed some great low key meals, slept in past 7am, and found the best gelato possible!
Diet coke and cannolis!  Yummy.  They were divine!

This time of year.....

I must say my husband knows me well.   Monday evening as we were getting the girls settled, I began to “share” (aka stress) about all the things we needed to get done before school started.  In his wonderful calm voice he simply said “it’s that time of year”.   What?  I guess I am pretty predictable!   So my list has begun but this year having a little fun is on there too!  I have come a long way!  The list:  hair cuts, new shoes, new lunch box, school supplies, etc.    Jimmy has even added to the list:  rotate the girls books out so we are not reading the same 5 books for 6 months!

Gracie is debating right now what she wants to do for her activity this year. She has done gymnastics since she was about 3. She has loved it more each year and the past two summers when she can really focus on it, she has given it all she has.  However, this year she really has taken to swimming.   Not just playing in the pool, but swimming laps, diving and working on technique.  Is she my child? ha!   Jimmy still does not like me to show the girls I plug my nose when I go under!   So Gracie is really thinking about what she wants to do and we are supporting her in her decision.   I can’t wait to see where her heart tugs and her interest lies!

This week Wednesday was sibling day at camp so Maggie tagged along again.  They LOVED it.   Sweet friends of ours have their daughter Maggie at camp this summer so their little one, Logan, was there with our Maggie.   It is so sweet to see our daughters together and how much they all love each other (but they all 4 have their moments!).
Gracie and (little) Maggie with (big) Maggie and Logan.

She thought she was hot stuff going to sister's camp!

I told Grammy the other night Maggie is all Martin and McGonagill, meaning her personality is so much like Jimmy’s side of the family.   We adore her, she makes us belly laugh, she tests our patience, and along with many other things makes our family complete.

Gracie is our love bug.  She has begun to really articulate her feelings and what she needs, which often is to cuddle up for snuggles.   I love those moments.   Jimmy was snuggling her in bed and told her she was his “swimmer girl” with big smiles she said “and your dancer girl”.   Her new favorite song to dance to is Hoedown Throwdown by Miley Cyrus.  We adore her, she makes us smile with a consistent warmth in our hearts, she challenges us with our patience and along with other things began our family over 7 years ago and forever changed who we are!

One day at camp this week was Cowgirl day!   She loved it but told me we needed to get some boots!

This weekend was absolutely perfect!   We decided to enjoy a Friday night low key meaning dinner out (no clean up), Lupis Cookie dough (make cookies at home that are really better than any I make I think), and movie snuggles watching despicable Me.  Saturday we decided to surprise the girls with a family date morning.    We headed downtown to Aretha Frankenstein’s for breakfast, a walk on the walking bridge (Maggie has been asking for months to go on the walking bridge), and wandered through Enzo’s (a new upscale grocery store downtown).   Saturday evening was date night so the girls enjoyed play time with Ms. Allie and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner together to connect!

Daddy and Gracie at breakfast!  What a great start to the weekend.

Mommy and Maggie!  Warms my heart to see her smiles!

Finally on the walking bridge!  We sure do love Chattanooga!

Love this picture for scale.   Gracie loved the bridge too!

Sisters!  Priceless!

I pray the girls always know how loved they are and treasured!  Hand in hand always!

My favorite part of the weekend....this........Gracie (and Maggie) teaching Jimmy to dance to Hoedown Throwdown!  Priceless if you ask me.

Travel Week(end)

Rain Rain!  I love this picture of the girls.  It really does capture how sweet they are.

about 4 inches over the weekend.   Jimmy asked when we need to build the ark! Ha
Hot stuff!

Stunning lady! She is really growing up too fast for my liking.

Daddy and his girls!

My ladies!
Yes, I have spent 6 nights this week in a hotel, but the end was all worth it.   I traveled to Orlando and Nashville for work Sunday evening through Thursday, but then Friday the girls and I hit the road for Cincinnati.

The weekend was dedicated to playing and visiting with my best friend from high school.  Leah and I worked together through high school, connected through college with letters, emails (although that had not taken off as much yet) and visits, and supported each other as we started our careers, marriages and parenthood!  WOW!  Although we don’t talk as often as we use to due to demands of life and priorities with husbands, kids and careers it was a great weekend to connect and play!    We had a blast!   We are already looking forward to next year, this time without kids so we can grab a few quite dinners, shop a little, run a little and maybe even squeeze in a spa day!
Maggie at the splash pad in Cinci at Winton Woods.  It was fabulous!

Showing off!

Yes, this is Maggie's new picture look!

Gracie always finds a place to rest in the sun.

All our kiddos at the zoo (the only semi decent group shot we got)

The Manatees were one of the favorites!

Gracie did this all on her own as she tried to mimic the animals stance!

She was enjoying talking pictures to share our trip with Daddy when we got home.

Sweet girl in the bamboo.  Maggie would not hold still enough to get her picture.

A little pool time at the hotel.

Maggie loves the adventure of the water.

Gracie calls this her "frog" drive! Quite funny!

No trip to Cinci is complete without Graeters Ice Cream.

My silly girl
Ahh, a real picture!

Final night.....a good swim, ice cream before dinner, pizza and a movie!

What a great weekend, but we were ready to be home to see Daddy!

We rushed home to make it to Kenzie's birthday party!  Gracie and Kenzie are best friends! This will be the 3rd year in a row they have been in the same class at school.
American Girl Movie Party!   WOW.  It was a great time.  Its funny looking at the girls with their dolls and how much the doll matches their own looks!

Count down to school when they get to spend a lot more time together!
