Daddy Daughter Dance 2014

Saturday night was the Daddy Daughter Dance at CCS.   Gracie as well as Jimmy look forward to this night all year.  Maggie is anticipating the day she can attend!   They planned their outfits (Jimmy always matches his tie to Gracie's dress), dinner with several of Gracie's friends and their dads (this year dinner was at 1885), the dance of course (although Jimmy did text message that he was not sure Gracie or her friends wanted anything to do with their dads, I assumed him she loved him) and then dessert at Milk and Honey with friends before falling asleep on the way home.
Daddy Daughter Dance!    She looks so stunning!

Daddy and his oldest daughter!   They adores each other and I am so thankful for their relationship.  She is learning how she should be treated by a young man and setting her expectations hight!

So sweet!

Love them!

They are off for the night!
Lucy, Gracie and Kenzie at 1885 for a pre dane dinner.    I pray these girls grow in their friendships as they go through school and always are each others biggest cheerleaders!

She looks so grown up.
For the yearbook!
Maggie enjoyed a night out with Mommy for dinner, jumping on the trampoline at the mall, buying a gold necklace to go with Maggie's cross that Grammy and Papa gave her when she was born, and a little shopping before bedtime snuggles in Mommy and Daddy's bed!
She is wearing her necklace!

Ready to jump! She goes soooo high and loves it! She will be my roller coaster girl.

Dinner together!  She was quite shy and snuggly.
Maggie this week was my reminder about how God works.     As we were putting her necklace on I think Maggie said about 20 times "Grammy and Papa got me this cross so I remember Jesus died on it for me".  Yes Maggie, what a great reminder to all of us.   I want a cross necklace just like the girls as a constant reminder too and a reminder of my own daughters sweet child faith!

We have a BIG prayer request.   Friday we received an email that CCS is considering a Pre K program for this fall.    That is perfect timing to a prayer we have had for the past 3 years that by the time Maggie needed to be in Pre K CCS would have the program!  A little reflection to several years back when I was stressed, worries and began to research every Pre K program in the city as I was concerned about her being in the same classroom at First Centenary for 2 years straight.  At the end of the day we had a peace about her staying…unless CCS started a program.   I had to laugh at how God works and how my concerns were heard AND how God must have laughed and said "I got this just wait".

The Resurrection and the Life!

I love Easter!  It is foundational to the Christian life!  Its all about the cross and the empty tomb.  Praise God!  We had a wonderful Sunday worshiping with the girls in service with us and watching “Easter at the Movies”!  Wow.  We go to a very non traditional church that meets at the theater AND we have a pastor is is very gifted in movie production.   He did a message sharing parts of the movie Frozen!   The girls loved it and it was such a neat message:   You can’t run away and the only perfect true love sacrifice is Jesus on the cross for us!

Easter centerpiece:   wood for the cross, crown of thorns, rocks representing the tomb and the flowers new life!

Maggie's basket hidden!

Gracie's basket hidden!

She found it!

She found hers too!

Skates of her own..she had to put them on right away before church!

Sunday pic with her new bunny!

The love their bunnies!

Daddy picture!

Mommy and my girls!
We enjoyed a restful afternoon with my brother and his family over for a late lunch, egg hunt and playtime outside.  The girls love our egg hunt, its fun as they each have plastic eggs with their names on them filled with either gold dollar coins or two dollar bills.  I don’t think they will ever get tired of an egg hunt at our house!  ha

Helping Mommy cook Easter lunch!

Love how close these girls are already!

Family pic!  (you should have seen Uncle Gabe trying to be silly to help get this one!)

and they are off…..Ellie found one of her eggs already!

Maggie I think found one of hers!
Sweet girl!
Gracie still loves to hunt eggs!
Impromptu water play!
My sun girl!

The week wrapped up quick as it was a short week for the ladies of the house.  We were off on Friday together enjoying a few errands together and the trampoline Jump Park.  We had a blast!   It was a great day including naps!

Saturday before the Daddy Daughter Dance we celebrated Cally's 2nd Birthday.   Wow.   Our kids are growing so fast!

Easter Egg Hunt

Sunday was Gracie’s official birthday, but she decided she did not want us to wake her up at 11:01pm to sing!  We enjoyed a fun breakfast with Grammy and Papa at Cracker Barrel before they left for home, the girls and I headed to church and Jimmy headed to the MinuteClinic!   Turns out Jimmy had a double ear infection and a sever sinus infection.    He was miserable.   But we are thankful by the end of the week he was well and able to enjoy Easter!

8th Birthday!

our "baby" at 4 1/2!

I love my family!

Grammy and Papa enjoyed Sunday morning with us before leaving!

So…I don't know that I have ever shared that Grammy and Papa ALWAYS bring donuts (powdered donuts that is always a guaranty).
Gabe, Katelyn and Ellie came over Sunday to visit and to give Gracie her birthday gift…..a new tradition, she now has her own Pandora bracelet with a ladybug bead.  She was tickled to have something just like Mommy and how special from them!

Sunday was not one of my finest moments as a wife or mommy.   I hit a mini panic attach (some would say no, but Jimmy would agree that is the case). While these don’t happen often, when I get stressed with my to do list I have trouble focusing and prioritizing.   This made the entire family on edge.  Jimmy asked me to make a list so we could accomplish it together and as I was doing so I could already tell my mind had my list much larger than it really was!   Praise God for some quite moments to refocus and a husband that balances me more than I ever imagined even when he is not feeling well.    I also had to apologize to Gracie as I had told her we could try to run that afternoon but when things needed to get done I pushed that aside.   She was very forgiving and it was a good lesson for her to know even parents make mistakes!

Papa came in to keep the girls Thursday and Friday since they were out of school.    They had a great time.  They enjoyed all the special time with him.

I had a business lunch this week just making connections in the community.  It was fun to share what I like about my current role, but even more exciting was to hear one of them say, “its very clear you have a strong skill set but even more clear is how passionate you are about your family and your role today”.  WOW.  I was glad that after 2 hours that showed through!   While right now this is not where I believe I should be, we do have some decisions to pray about related to my career.

Saturday I was able to get away for a haircut and highlight.  I feel much better now!  It was getting too long, too dark and at the same time too much grey!   We enjoyed the day outside and hosted a church Easter egg hunt at our house.  Anyone who knows me well knows Easter is my favorite.   I love spring, the egg hunts, the dresses and all those fun things, but nothing compares to the day being the fundamental basis for the Christian life….the resurrection!
We love to dye eggs, although I do get anxious about the dye spilling

Proud of their creations.   Good thing we love to eat hard boiled eggs!

Grace took quickly to the bunny!

Maggie was not so sure about the bunny!

Love these sweet girls together.   So blessed we get to do life with them and their parents.

The oldest ladies!

Now that is a lot of kids!

Jimmy as always humors me and mows the yard to have circle patched to hide the eggs.

Ready to find her eggs!

and off she goes!

Family pic!

We sure miss the May's being in the neighborhood, but sure thankful for their leadership with the church and even more their consistent friendship!
