2 to Grow With : Last Week of School (for both girls)...Let Summer Begin!

This was Gracie’s last week of 2nd Grade and Maggie’s last week (we think) of school at First Centenary! Its bitter sweet for us that Maggie is wrapping up there as both girls were there since they were babies and after about 8 years we are saying goodbye. Goodbye to the teachers, the halls, the classrooms and the playground where they were loved and formed some sweet friendships. But its time, its time for both the girls to be at one location.

With my small group we have been studying the book “1.000 gifts” and recently the challenge was to find the beauty in the ugly. Growing up and goodbyes are not something I love or am good at. I posted this to Facebook this week and it captures wrapping up the year so well.

The beauty: receiving this email from Ms. Henry (Gracie's teacher this year) as a reminder of a wonderful year written, the growth and development, and the memories etched for all of us. Thankful for this reminder. Gracie sure had a silly teacher who not only taught Gracie but us more about life! Thank you Ms. Henry! "I cried when school got today because I am going to miss your sweet beautiful daughter. She had such a great sense of humor that kept me giggling. She was a joy to teach and such a hard worker. I am so excited how much she grew academically and spiritually this year. I am so blessed and honored to teach her this year. She is truly a amazing girl. You and your husband are such sweet dedicated parents; it was a blessing partnering with you this year. Hope you have a great summer! Thank you for sharing your and entrusting your daughter to me this year. I am forever blessed and changed by teaching Gracie this year!"

We attended a meeting for the CCS Pre K program to gain more insight. We were eager to enroll and completed all our documentation Friday. We are praying we are able to get a spot as well as Addison and Tyler too! After Maggie went home with Addison for a sleepover and then a day at Lake Winnie with her class. Addison’s parents love Maggie like their own and we love that they are so connected. Mr. Chris starts every sleepover with the rules (that of course are made to be broken) “No laughing, so giggling, no talking and of course NO having fun”.

Maggie, Tyler and Addison

It was a long week with unknown health issues for Jimmy. Wednesday on my way back form several days in Nashville Jimmy sent me a text “I am checking myself into the ER I need you to get the girls”. Deep breath...Get the girls, find the back up to stay with them if I needed to get to the ER, get the girls settled and help them not worry about Daddy but pray for healing and on and on. The tests all showed a sever stomach virus and a kidney stone. They sent him home. He was getting better until Friday afternoon right before we were to leave for Atlanta to head to the beach Saturday. We regrouped, went home and decided to leave Saturday. By late evening he was better so we decided to go down to Atlanta. It was a rough trip. Saturday on the way down to Charleston was a VERY rough trip. So much so that an hour out we decided Jimmy’s Dad would take him to the ER and Lynn and I would take the girls on to the house. After hours of tests, pain meds, and rest we went from from it being a potential gallbladder or appendix issue back to kidney stone and sever stomach virus. They sent him home! We all slept well and are praying the week is filled with rest, health, and wonderful memories.
